This initiative is designed to help defray the travel and living
expenses of scholars who wish to use the Langum Family Papers or the
de Mattos Family Papers, both of which are located at the Abraham
Lincoln Presidential Library (formerly the Illinois State Historical
Library) in Springfield, Illinois.

The Langum Papers and the de Mattos Papers are catalogued under
the OCLC/FirstSearch database, Worldcat. The library began
accessioning these papers to provide insight into a
multi-generational professional family with many ties to Illinois.
David J. Langum, Sr. is now processing these papers, and the
collections are incomplete. However, guides to the papers that are
now processed can be viewed as follows:
Applications are processed throughout the year, and there is no
deadline. The applicant should send a resume or c.v., a letter about
the research project and how these collections would be of aid in
the project, and a summary budget for the proposed grant. The
maximum grant is $1,500. Send applications to:
