Virginia Anne De Mattos Langum was born on September 3, 1918 at
Winnipeg, Manitoba to Dunbar Wright De Mattos and Phyllis Atherton
(Drew) De Mattos. She died October 23, 1967 at Elgin, Illinois. She
married John K. Langum at Fremont, Nebraska on November 18, 1939 and
they had one son, David John Langum, who was born on October 24,
1940.
She attended St. Paul Public Schools, Ramsey Junior High and
Washburn Junior-Senior High School where she graduated in 1936. She
attended the University of Minnesota from 1936-1940. She was a
homemaker, but was very active in civic activities such as: a Girl
Scout troop leader, the Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin, officer
of Elgin Association for Crippled Children Easter Seal Center,
League of Women Voters, volunteer at Elgin State Hospital and the
Red Cross.
