Ann Weisgarber's debut novel, The Personal History of Rachel
DuPree, won the 2010 Langum Prize for American Historical
Fiction, the Steven Turner Award for Best Work of First Fiction, and
was shortlisted for the Ohioana Book Award. In England, it was
nominated for the Orange Prize and for the Orange Award for New
Writers. It was a Barnes & Noble Discover New Writers book and an
Indie Next List Great Read. The film rights have been optioned by
actress Viola Davis.
Weisgarber earned a B.A. in Social Work from Wright State
University and a M.A. in Sociology from the University of Houston.
She lives in Sugar Land, Texas. Her second novel will be published
in 2012.
